Know the Different Types of Oats

Traditional Rolled Oats

Traditional rolled oats are the most common type of oatmeal; they are made by steaming and flattening whole oats. These oats have a slightly chewy texture and a nutty flavor.

Quick-Cooking Oats

Also made from whole oats, but they are cut into smaller pieces before being steamed. As a result, they cook more quickly than rolled oats and often have a softer texture.

Steel-Cut Oats

Steel-cut oats are made from whole oats that have been cut into smaller pieces and then boiled. These oats have a hearty texture and a nutty flavor.
